μα ετσι θα βγαλει χρημα αγορι μου...γιατι το μεγαλητερο ποσοστο αυτων που παρακολουθουν τα τεκτενομενα στο χωρο αυτο ειναι fanboys! αυτο ειναι το target group! εκει στοχευουν κ γινοντε μερος τους για την κονομα..κανε μια βολτα στο insomnia να δεις ποσα post σκανε με ειρωνικα σχολια για το ps3..βροχη...το ιδιο κ σε ξενα forums..και οχι μονο εναντιον του ps3..και το αντστροφο! μονο που το αντιστροφο ειναι σε πολυ μικροτερη ποσοστητα..ο πολεμος που εχει φαει το ps3 ειναι τρομερος...ισως εκει ειναι η μεγαλητερη νικη της ms!

η αληθεια ειναι οτι η ms μπηκε στο πολεμο εχοντας πλανο για το 360 κ ετοιμη πολιτικη..εκει πιαστηκε κοτσος η sony..βιαστηκε για να προλαβει..εκανε λαθη...ηταν ανετοιμη κ τα πληρωνει ολα αυτα τωρα..αλλου κερδισε (βλεπε BD) αλλου εχασε (multiplatforms)..δες ποσες εκδοσεις βγαινουν με διαφορετικους σκληρους...δες το store που αλλαξε...δες το home που ακομα να βγει...δες MGS...δες Killzone...με αυτα εκανε το μπαμ η sony...εκει κερδισε κοσμο κ κανενα απο αυτα τα games δεν εχει βγει...για μενα ολα αυτα επρεπε να εχουν γινει απτην αρχη..αυτη ειναι προσωπικη μου γνωμη..και πλεον η sony αντιμετωπιζει το μενος οχι μονο των fanboys αλλα κ πολλων "δημοσιογραφων"...για ενα casual gamer αυτα δεν ειναι τπτ...για αυτους ομως ειναι πολλα...κ δε χανουν ευκαιρια να ριξουν χολη..

Ειναι πολυ προσεγμενο τεχνικα.Πραγματικα πολυ κοντα σε cg ατμοσφαιρα.Το μονο που μενει ειναι να ειναι εξισου προσεγμενο και στο gameplay.Αλλα απο τις εκφωνησεις των παιχτων νομιζω εμειναν ενθουσιασμενοι.

Noμιζω οτι εχουν βελτιωθει οι εκρηξεις κατα πολυ,οπως και τα textures αρκετα,σε σχεση με το παλαιοτερο βιντεο.

θα πω κατι που δεν εχει ακουστει.... στο xbox θα φαινοταν καλυτερα....
τωρα για το gameplay πιστευω θα ειναι απο τα κλασικα,απλο και καλο,τα γραφικα ειναι πολυ τελεια και η ατμοσφαιρα του βαρετου πλεον πολεμου απλα θεικη...το ξαναλεω οτι αυτο το παιχνιδι θα ειναι το πρωτο μου fps . και πιστευω πως θα αξιζει...

Μεχρι και για τα γραφικα ειπε οτι "χρειαζεται προσπαθεια για να καταλαβεις την ποιοτητα.Στην αρχη δεν εντυπωσιαζουν"... δηλαδη ΗΜΑΡΤΟΝ το κερατο μου στραβος ειμαι?


Ναι, και για το haze έτσι τα βλέπαμε ωραία τα γραφικά και τώρα που το είδαμε στα PS3 μας φάγαμε την ξενέρα. Για εμένα δεν υφίσταντε παιχνίδια που θα κυκλοφορίσουν σε 3+ μήνες και επίσης αν δεν δω demo στο ps3 μου δεν πιστεύω τίποτα, εκεί με έχουν φτάσει. Απο αναβολή σε αναβολή και σαν να μην έφτανε αυτό τρως και την "πατάτα" με τις υποσχέσεις τους για πρώτο πιάτο.

Απλά είμαι αδιάφορος πλέον για το κάθε τι που θα κυκλοφορήσει, δεν με νοιάζει ότι και να πούνε γι'αυτό. Όταν έρθει η ώρα του και το δεί ο κόσμος τότε θα αποφασίσω αν θα γίνω hyped ή όχι.

Μα εγω δεν συζηταω κατι τετοιο.Και απο ποτε καποιος ελεγε οτι τα γραφικα του Haze ηταν καλα?Εγω ποτε δεν ειδα τιποτα το φοβερο τοσο καιρο που μας "ελεγαν".Οτι εβλεπα στα βιντεο , βλεπω και στην τηλεοραση μου.Και αυτο που εβλεπα και βλεπω ποτε δεν ηταν και ποτε δεν εγινε εντυπωσιακο.Μια μουφα φαινοταν , γι αυτο και αλλωστε ημουν επιφυλακτικος και ο πρωτος που εκανε κριτικη εδω.

Τωρα το Killzone 2 , τουλαχιστον σε αυτον τον τομεα , δεν συγκρινεται καν με το Haze.Και τα βιντεο που βλεπουμε τα βλεπουμε απο παιχτες που επαιζαν σε 37 οθονη σε αποσταση 40 cm (!!!) και δεν εβλεπαν jaggies!Και οι εντυπωσεις αυτων που επαιξαν το παιχνιδι ηταν παρα πολυ καλες.

Στραβοι δεν ειμαστε.Και επειδη καποιος ειναι κακοηθης και κανει καθυστερημενα και ηλιθια σχολια (ign), δεν προκειται να σταθω σε αυτον και να του δωσω credit στα λεγομενα του.

Οπως ειπα , οταν θες να κανεις κριτικη , φροντιζεις να την κανεις με σοβαρα και τεκμηριωμενα επιχειρηματα.Οχι αμπελοφιλοσοφιες για sixaxis και βαλβιδες...

Aναφέρεται ότι δεν υπάρχει ίχνος aliasing στο παιχνίδι ακόμα και από τα 30 εκατοστά που παίζανε στην έκθεση το οποίο τρέχει ΣΤΑΘΕΡΑ στα 30fps οτιδήποτε και αν γίνεται στην οθόνη!

Ok, just got back from London and I guess it's time for me to share some Killzone 2 impressions with you.

First of all, in order to actually play the game I had to wait in line for around a fucking hour. Just three kiosks + dozens of people all playing the demo from start to finish = me spending half of the even watching others playing.

By the time I got the DS3 in my hands, I already knew the demo in and out. Could almost do it all blindly.

Demo starts with a bang. Kinda like the E3 demo, you are flying with your comrades towards the war zone. The scale of the scene is amazing. No fog whatsoever hides the busy battleground 200 meters ahead of you. The amount of detail is so high I can barely discern the single elements. As u get close one of the allied flying vehicles ahead of you explodes into a cloud of flaming debris and corpses. You end up flying into it (one of the corpses actually crashes on you vehicles), resulting in a crash landing. Mr Fucking Convoy is first to jump out of the vehicle. You follow and game starts. Before going ahead I looked above me, behind me, towards the other side of the river (I guess it was a river) just to check if there was any less detail around me than there was on the path I was supposed to traverse. There were no such compromises. I could see the buildings standing tall and 3D on the other side of the river. In the sky, there was traffic: vehicles, anti air missiles and stuff.

First thing I noticed graphics wise is the CGI quality of the lighting. It was so non-gamey and realistic it felt real. It's usually easier to impress with dark settings these days, while bright ones look washed out or whatever. Not in this case.

The post-processing muscle of the engine was put to good use with subtle motion blur and the most impressive lens flare effects I've ever seen in a videogame. And when I blowed that bridge with the rocket launcher... WOW. I could see it crumble piece by piece and the dust filling the area, with sun rays raining diagonally through it. It was so realistic in its volumetric authenticity I almost coughed. But apparently that was not enough spectacle for Guerrilla. While the dust was still settling, a flying vehicle came from behind me and went right through it leaving spiralling whirlpools of dust in its trail. That was seriously awesome and a pity most players didn't notice as they where looking in a different direction when that happened. (Note for Guerrilla: add a Gears of War-like press-button X-to-see-cool-stuff-going-on-around-you functionality).

Anyway, I go ahead, graphics keep impressing. Soldiers leave footprints. Animations are smooth and realistic. Detail abound. At one point I was shooting at this Helghast hiding behind a low concrete wall. I could barely see his left shoulder from a corner. I kept shooting trying to hit every bit of Helghast I could spot until it kinda looked like he moved. Is he still alive dammit? I wonder. I look closer and I see a pool of blood expanding on the ground from behind that cover. Yeah, he's dead.

Another detail. Real time shadows. Impressive. Not pixellated anymore and are EVERYWHERE. You see an Helghast shooting from 100 meters ahead? Look closer and u'll notice the muzzle flash sending blinks of his very shadow on the wall behind him. This happens both in dark sections and in light ones. Obviously shadows look more or less dark accordingly.

Fastforward and I'm at the "Sixaxis moment" where I have to rotate a wheel in order to open a steel door. That's a pretty nice implementation of the tilt functionality. You "grab" the wheel by holding both R1 and L1, rotate the controller 45° anticlockwise, release R1 and L1 in order to center your hands on the wheel and grab it again for another 45° anticlockwise spin and you keep doing this until the door is opened. Very nice.

This said, I have a complain to make. While aiming and shooting was spot on, both responsive and with a very good feeling, the controls layout was kinda odd to me. It probably just needs getting used to it, but having the ironsight view on R3 rather than L1 (which is used for cover/crunch) gave me troubles. The good thing is you dont have to keep R3 pressed to stay in ironsight mode. It's on/off stuff. The bad thing is, while pressed behind cover (holding L1), you cannot go straight into ironsight mode by pressing R3. You have to first lean on the top or the side of the cover (meaning having to keep the L stick in the respective direction) and then press R3. This makes sense, and I'm sure I'll get used to it, but I'd have loved to be able to stick to the cover with the press of a button (a la Uncharted/Gears of War) and then pop up in ironsight view with L1. Anyway, controls are still worked on and the option screen seems to allow u to change the layout (default one was "Type A", didn't try Type B or whataver was there to choose from).

Another thing is your companions. When they get hit too much they lay on the ground unable to help you out in the firefight. You can ignore them and keep going or "revive" them by pressing Circle. At times you need them to progress (like you saw at some point in the vids) so revive is not an option but rather mandatory. The thing is reviving them is too fast and easy. You can litterally run by them and press Circle "on the fly". There is no "reviving animation" going on. Hence there is very little risk involved in reviving them. Grated, if they are out in the open it is risky to just reach them, but when they go down they usually do so behind their covers so it's very easy to just run, cure and hide again. They should at least add a brief animation
showing you injecting something in them, so that you are forced to stay exposed for a couple of seconds.

Anyway, other than these very minimal complains, I had a blast. Oh, almost forgot. Frame rate is perfect 99% of the time. Solid 30fps. There are small pauses here and there like you saw in the E3 demo, but they are going to be fixed for sure and they only happen whne game loads next section, never during action. Also noticed some LOD pop-ups on the characters. Not too bad tho. Hopefully they fix this as well. Textures where MUCH better than at E3. Very crisp and detailed.

Εγώ πάλι νομίζω ότι αυτό λέει κάτι παραπάνω.
Ότι το trailer που είδαμε είναι ουσιαστικά η απάντηση της Guerilla στον εαυτό της για το φιάσκο του 2005 - οι σκηνές είναι σχεδόν οι ίδιες..

μαλλον δεν ειδες τα viδεο που ειχαν τραβηξει με καμερα την ωρα που το επαιζαν στην εκθεση, τα γραφικα του μονο καλυτερα μπορουν να γινουν απο αυτα που ειδαμε.

Μα τι λες βρε Γιαννη, αφου τα παλικαρια το επαιζαν κατευθειαν μεσω του PS3 και με dualshock 3... τα βιντεο δεν τα ειδες?Το παιχνιδι ειναι playable κατευθειαν απο το PS3.Και αν μη τι αλλο , τα γραφικα ειναι ηδη καλυτερα απο αυτα που νομιζετε οτι βλεπουμε...αλλο να βλεπεις υλικο που εχει τραβηχτει μεσω καμερας , και αλλο να βλεπεις τα παντα direct feed.

Τα γραφικα απο δω και εμπρος μονο καλυτερα μπορουν να ειναι στην τελικη εκδοση.Και μιας και μιλαμε για pre alpha code , τοτε αντε γεια. :D

Να ειμαστε επιφυλακτικοι με αλλα παιχνιδια που απλα βλεπουμε ενα βιντεο , ναι συμφωνω και επαυξανω...αλλα οταν το παιχνιδι το εχεις μπρος σου και το παιζεις , τοτε αυτο που βλεπεις μονο καλυτερο μπορει να γινει στο τελος...οχι χειροτερο.

Εχετε δει εσεις κανενα ντεμο απο το PSN που να δειχνει πιο ομορφο απο την τελικη εκδοση?I dont think so ;)

Δεν νομιζω οτι εχει γινει ποστ το συγκεκριμενο βιντεο , ειναι απο το jeux-france , καινουργιο , οχι το 12αλεπτο βιντεο, αλλα ενα αλλο 5αλεπτο.Καλη ποιοτητα.

Οτι και να πω ειναι λιγο.

Απιστευτα animation.
Καταπληκτικα γραφικα (αν και πιστευω οτι 8α βελτιωθουν και ακομα περισσοτερο!)
Τρομερη ατμοσφαιρα.

Και το reload στο gifaki παραπανω ειναι τρομερο! Απιστευτη λεπτομερια στη κινηση.

Χλωμοτατο για νεα αναβολη. Αλλα για πολυ χλωμο συγουρα.

Ειναι υπερ αρκετος ο καιρος μεχρι να κυκλοφορησει. Δεν τηθεται θεμα και αλλης καθυστερησεις.

Η μηχανή γραφικών φαίνεται αρκετά σταθερή και ομαλή πλέον... Δε νομίζω ότι θα δούμε μεγάλη βελτίωση στα γραφικά από εδώ και πέρα. Αν δούμε θα δούμε πολύ μικρές διαφορές κατά τη γνώμη μου! Μέχρι το Φλεβάρη έχουν το χρόνο να προσέξουν το ΑΙ, το gameplay και το online για να μας δώσουν ένα παιχνίδι χωρίς bugs και αντάξιο να σταθεί "δίπλα" στο hype που έχει δημιουργηθεί...

Η GG έκανε φοβερά πράγματα με τα γραφικά, έκανε research για χάρη της Sony και αυτό το παιχνίδι θα ξεπεραστεί πολύ δύσκολα στο animation και τα γραφικά σ'αυτή τη γενιά και κατά πάσα πιθανότητα μόνο από την Sony (Ready of Dawn ή GG ή Naughty Dog)

Όσοι πιστεύουν ότι το X360 είναι το ίδιο "δυνατό" μηχάνημα με το PS3 ας δουν λίγο καλύτερα και πιο προσεκτικά τα gameplay videos του Killzone 2! Όσοι θέλουν να συνεχίσουν αυτό το θέατρο του παραλόγου μπορούν να το κάνουν... Θα ζουν στο κόσμο τους απλά!! :p

Τα γραφικα ηδη ειναι αψογα, δε χρειαζεται να αλλαξουν πολλα πραγματα. Και τα lowres textures που λεγαμε παλια βελτιωθηκαν αρκετα, τα particle effects και το lighting ειναι απο αλλο πλανητη και το framerate ειναι σταθεροτατο. Αυτο που πιστευω εγω οτι πρεπει να βελτιωσουν βλεποντας τα βιντεο ειναι η AI. Εχει πολλη δουλεια να κανει εκει η guerilla...

It will have been over four years since the release of the original Killzone when Killzone 2 hits retail shelves in February 2009. In that stretch of time, PlayStation owners have endured delay after delay in hopes of one day finally getting the opportunity to sit down with the highly anticipated title in order to take down one Helghast at a time. One of the key components to taking down this dastardly enemy of mankind is the weaponry you’ll be equipped with. We’ve taken the time to display the known weapons for Killzone 2.

First up is the standard issued ISA Assault Rifle. It won’t come as a shock if this ends up being your main weapon of combat throughout the game, but we’re hoping that this time around Guerilla Games gives us a little bit larger magazine clip to work with. Hopefully, as displayed below, that added clip of ammo will be used as an extra source of ammunition that will give you a quicker reload and more bullets to spray paint across the battlefield. We can also speculate that because of the green scope attachment, this Assault Rifle is also package with the grenade launcher much like the similar scope was packaged with that rifle in the original title.

This brings the Machine Gun up next, which happens to be looking like an altered version of the M249 SAW. While this option will come packed with more rounds at a faster rate, we’re sure the damage potential will be much lower than that of the Assault Rifle. Not to mention the recoil, if done realistically, should create a bit of inaccuracy in comparison as well. Though users will probably give up damage for a faster rate of fire, this would be your obvious second choice for your primary weapon.

A new addition to the Killzone Gun Club is the Revolver. Oddly, this handgun was left out of the original title from what we can gather, but found its way into the sequel. We’re hoping that the revolver just happens to punch a nice amount of damage behind that beautiful kickback. If we look at the revolver within other games, we can take delight in knowing what type of stopping power this little package can deliver. Here’s to hoping the Helghast are poorly prepared for its punch.

Below, you’ll notice a miscellaneous rifle that we’re not quite sure on what it could be. From what we gather, it is quite similar to the Assault Rifle/Shotgun combination from the original Killzone – minus the red scope. If this is the case, it’s good to know that this dual-purposed weapon will be made available to users in the game once more. This was by far our favorite weapon in Killzone and we’re glad it is potentially making its return. This gun is sure to be the most efficient not only in distance-based combat, but in close-quarters battle as well.

This little SMG-esque gun is new to the franchise much like the Revolver. We’ve done our digging around and can’t find anything eerily similar to the style nor the design. We understand the game has undertaken a huge redesign since the original title, but it still leave zero resemblance like other guns we’ve mentioned already. Our best bet is this is just a standard two-handed SMG that will allow you to drop the Helghast to the floor in quick succession.

The Rocket Launcher looks like a real nice piece of work in Killzone 2. As shown below, we’re hoping this bad boy destroys as great as it looks. As in any game, the rocket launcher is used with no caution and only complete destruction is relevant. We can only imagine how the rag doll physics will send Helghast flying after taking a pill poppin’ from one of these bad boys.

We’ve obviously saved the best weapon for last. The Shotgun -- now we understand we said the dual-rifle/shotgun was our favorite weapon of all, unfortunately, when it comes to just a standard equipped gun, nothing beats the shotgun on its own. Moving through corridors and weaving through close-quarter combat, it’s always great fun to watchfun to watch the enemy takes a shell to the chest and go flying in reverse. These are the only known weapons of Killzone 2 thus far and we're sure there will be more slowly revealed as February 2009 rolls around. With a lot of trailers and gameplay to look forward to, it will be no surprise to finally see a lot more weapons in destructive action. We've played the second level. Who wants to touch us?

reath-taking. Sharp. Realistic. The bomb. You can say it however you like, but after a morning of blasting Helghast at Sony's pre-E3 event, the fact of the matter is pretty simple: Killzone 2 looks good.

Really good.

Like the only other opening we've seen for Killzone 2, things started off in the air and poorly when we got our hands on the game's second level. As Alpha Team and Sev -- that's you, a battle-hardened soldier -- make their approach to a budding warzone near the Visari's capital, the Helgast start shooting down the incoming dropships. One of the squads directly in front of you goes boom, and as the flames engulf the transport, one of the soldiers flies from the fire and crashes into your rig.

Awesome.

Your ship goes down -- hard -- in an industrial zone that's been torn apart by this battle and you're left to go at it on-foot with your men.

The first thing that struck us about this -- our second time actually playing the Guerrilla Games beast -- was how great this thing looked. When we took our first step as Sev, our assault rifle bobbed into view and reflected the sunlight filtering through the smoke-filled sky; when we turned the first corner, a trio of enemies eviscerated our scouts and blood leapt into the air. As we slid behind a concrete barricade during a gigantic firefight, we looked to the heavens and saw a solitary rocket streaking toward one of our airborne units.

Even that makes it sound like we're just talking about how good the big moments look, but there are little touches that make this world look lived in. There's rust on the containers littering the battlefield; when we sprayed some machine gun fire at a Helghast in hiding, the impact zones on the wall glowed orange before cooling to black; and there's the satisfaction of placing the small green dot of your assault rifle's scope on top of a foe and dropping him with one shot.

When we weren't rocking the assault rifle, we made use of a machine gun but always found ourselves falling back on Sev's trusty pistol. The game only gives you two weapon slots and reverses one of them for the pistol, but it's fine for a couple of reasons. One, there are tons of guns around from all the dudes you just whacked. We used a rocket launcher to bring down a bridge and had no trouble finding a machine gun when we needed one for some squad combat. The second reason the slots are OK is simply because the pistol is cool. The bastard's got a magnum-like kick, but the damage is severe and the reload animation of Sev's hands emptying the revolver make the slow rate of fire worth it.

Seeing Sev's hands in action is pretty much as close to seeing the main man as you're going to get -- or at least we got in this demo. As if the first-person cutscenes we've seen weren't proof enough, Guerrilla says that it's going to be putting a lot of Sev's actions into your first-person perspective so that you feel connected to your character. After we knocked out a dozen or so bad guys, the mission objective came down to opening a flood gate so that our convoy could continue on its merry way. Sev and a partner headed off to open the dam, and the first step had us tapping circle to put our boot in our better half's hand to get a boost to the top of a crate, and then Sev grabbed his friend's arm and pulled up topside.

The level continued with us taking cover, popping Helghast, and using our bullets to ignite explosives -- oh, we tagged this propane tank and the escaping gas propelled it toward some enemies before it exploded -- and finally found the floodgate controls. On-screen prompts had us hold R1 and L1, Sev's hands grabbed the wheel controlling the gate, and then we used Sixaxis to crank the device open. Again from the first-person perspective, Sev's hands mimicked ours perfectly.

This was pre-alpha code, so there were obviously a few sticking points. Although the first-person immersion works at making you feel like you're really the one in the game, two things took us out of the experience. At first, your overarching objective will pop up on-screen in a military green, computer-looking device, there will also be humongous arrows above people and places you need to go. Plus when a comrade falls in combat, a medic symbol will appear over him and Sev will need to run to him and pop an injection in him, but there wasn't an animation for the booster shot.

There were a few other visual bugs: sometimes there was an extended flash after firing while using our gun sight that hid the death animation and/or the fact that the guy was even hit, some of the textures were bland, etc. But don't freak out. It's pre-alpha. There's no doubt that Killzone 2 is looking pretty damn impressive.

At the end of the day, people want a Killzone 2 that has fully realized the vision that we set out with the 2005 trailer. Fortunately for us, Sony has a great line-up for Christmas so there was no pressure at all to come out at that time.

"This means we can take our time to polish it,” so says Herman Hulst - managing director of Guerrilla when we caught up with him at the Sony’s Gamers Day in south London where PS3’s daddy announced to the world its insanely anticipated, benchmark-setting shooter has been pencilled in for a February 2009 release rather than the pipedream September date earlier promised.

That fully realized vision is getting closer and closer with the latest build
of the shooter looking utterly spectacular thanks to a combination of jaw-dropping battle setpieces (which, we were promised, there are plenty of in the finished game), smart physics, slick weaponry and gritty environments. We got to play through Killzone 2’s second mission, the Corinth Sands, where you (Sev) and your platoon must storm a port on the Helghan planet to make way for incoming ISA troops. It’s dirty, it’s muddy, it’s cold and it’s angry (and we were told this is one of the more welcoming environments before the Helghan weather front moves in on you).

Flank left instead of right and you’ll catch a bullet in the soft of the eye. This is where the new cover system comes into play. By holding L1 you snap to cover, and from here you can use the left stick to lean ‘n’ peek from behind it and fire off a few shots. Plus, you can blindfire if anyone gets too close for comfort by just hitting R1. This new system works incredibly well, feels remarkably fluid and doesn’t yank you out of the first-person perspective unlike say, Rainbow Six: Vegas. This means you’re kept in the heat of the action at all times - never once feeling removed from the anarchy of the Helghan battle and the zinging bullets. Overall, the controls are very tight. In fact it’s the best we’ve experienced outside of Call of Duty 4. And that’s no light statement. Killzone 2 is incredibly solid and slick, the weight of each gun feels good and looking down the scope COD4-style to pop Helghast is a joy - especially given the ace animation.

Unlike the first Killzone, you won’t be playing as multiple characters this time around (so no cheap chick with a one-shot killer pistol). Yes, you’ll have your squad on hand at all times, but you’ll only play as Sev through the game’s storyline. Naturally, you’ll need to keep your platoon in good shape, otherwise firefights will get the better of you. If you support teammates by either reviving them on the battlefield or backing them up when they’re pinned down, they’ll return the favour. “The revive system we’ve implemented in Killzone 2 is based on Killzone Liberation,” says Hulst. “It’s a simple, intuitive system, designed to keep your buddies alive, who then, in turn, look after you as well.”

Destructible environments are another facet of the new mechanics the team at Guerrilla have woven into the code. Rounding a corner on the Corinth docks, you’re faced with dual-mounted gunners on a bridge drilling ISA troops with hot lead, one of whom drops a rocket launcher after being sent packing to the long queue at the pearly gates. After making a quick break for it, grabbing the launcher and clinging to cover, our squad is hollering at us to take down the weapons crates next to the gunners. BOOM! The crates go up in a fireball and the bridge crumbles to the ground, Helghan troopers crushed beneath the rubble. That was cool.

Hulst and his team are pushing for those big Hollywood blockbuster money moments. “We love destroying the environments we’ve so carefully constructed - it makes the artists really happy. Making sure the world responds to your bullets in a manner that you would expect is a big thing for us. We go over the top here or there, to create something of a spectacle out of this destructibility,” explains Hulst. Spraying a wall with bullets, we got what exactly Hulst meant by the world responding to your bullets. Naturally there are flammable barrels and gas canisters that can be gunned to trigger ear-rattling explosions, but one slick touch is watching your bullets penetrate steel or concrete. Shoot a static object and the bullet hole sears with heat for a beat. It's these little design nuances that will set Killzone 2 apart from the rival shooters out there.

Another new addition to gameplay is how you can help your squad and vice versa when traversing walls and obstacles. Can’t reach that ledge? Just head over to it and one of your team will give you a boost with a tap of a button. And once you’re on top, it’s your turn to haul your squaddie up. It’s not groundbreaking (fans of Army of Two have seen it all before), nor is it worth making too much of a song and dance about, but it’s one more slick detail to add to Killzone 2’s mechanics that ensures the feeling of being ‘in’ the game never lets up.

Killzone 2’s most prolific addition is the implementation of the physics-heavy hit response system. Shoot a Helghan trooper in the leg and he’ll slam down face first into the crud. Take a shot at his shoulder or arm and he’ll clutch it in agony. Coolly, Guerrilla isn’t just implementing the hit response system for flashes, it’s taking it one step further. Said system is going to play an important part in the game when you encounter larger foes such as the mini-gun wielding Titan. Armoured to the hilt, he’s got a tank on his back that you need to hit, but first you have to spin him around by hitting him in the shoulder, then you take shots at the equipment on his back. And this guy is only a mini-boss, with promises of much bigger menaces to square off against.

“The mini-bosses are just that, a taste of what’s to come in the shape of some much greater bosses. We first did this with Killzone Liberation, and are now introducing them into Killzone 2,” hints Hulst of the punishing possibilities to come. Aside from both mini-bosses and their larger counterparts, you’re also going to operate some heavy artillery and Helghan-crushing tanks, but Hulst is coy on revealing any more details on what’s to come until a later date. “Without giving away too much at this stage, you can be sure there is more to play around with,” he says with a smile on his face, teasing us with the prospect of the sort of machinery we’re going to get behind the wheel of - although we do know the hovercraft you arrive on at the start of the mission comes back in to play and you can take control of an APC in mission three.

Approaching the end of the level, we got a taste for how Guerrilla has executed the use of the Sixaxis. Tasked with turning a valve to open up floodgates so ISA troops can pass through, you’re prompted to hold down L1 and R1 to grab the valve. From there you turn the pad like you would the valve if it were in your hands. It’s interesting, it feels natural and it doesn’t feel tacked on like a lot of Sixaxis control schemes. This moment piqued our interest for more glimpses of what the Dutch developer is doing with Sony’s wireless wonder.

One aspect on everyone’s lips was what Killzone 2 was going to offer in terms of multiplayer. Unfortunately, and as expected, everyone was keeping mum on any semblance of details Guerrilla has been working on. “Killzone 2’s multiplayer is a huge deal. We’re offering the player a unique multiplayer experience that we’ll be revealing more information on at a later time,” said Hulst as we tried to prod him for information on any online-planned Helghan hootenannies. And it all comes back to that video, which Hurst says serves as more of a blessing than a curse. When the first Killzone 2 trailer went live, the fanboys went nuts. (‘Was it in-game footage?’ ‘Of course it was!’ ‘How could it not be, the PS3 was the most powerful console’ etc.) In retrospect, Hurst is contemplative. “Had we not been in the situation to live up to that trailer, it most certainly would have been a curse. But because we feel we are in a position to reach that target, potentially even exceed it, I think it’s the best motivational tool that we ever created for ourselves.” Almost too soon, our time with him and the game comes to an end. Brave words. Bold statements.

Another delay to the release date ensures the Killzone 2 development saga will carry on into 2009, but after our play of this flagship shooter, every extra day Guerrilla gets on the Helghan homeworld tweaking, the better it is for everyone involved. So far, the wait is proving worthwhile.

Λοιπον αυτο ειναι που θα κανει τη διαφορα στο ΚΖ2...ο καιρος και τα dynamic changes που θα γινονται σε πραγματικο χρονο.Οπως ειχαν πει , οι Helghast θα μπορουν να εκμεταλευονται τα στοιχεια της φυσης με διαφορους τροπυς.Αυτο για εμενα ειναι το στοιχειο που θα κανει την πραγματικη διαφορα.Οι δυνατοτητες ειναι απειρες με ενα τετοιο στοιχειο gameplay! :D

Θα ειναι ακομη καλυτερα , αυτο ειναι σιγουρο.Απλα λεω οτι οι εικονες (και οχι τα βιντεο) ειναι λιγο επεξεργασμενες ωστε να μην φαινεται το παραμικρο ψεγαδι. ;)

Nαι αλλα στα βιντεο φαινοταν χαλια.Ενω το Killzone 2 εχουμε HD βιντεο απο ατομα που το επαιζαν απευθειας απο το PS3.Το Haze ηταν ψιλομετρια-καμμια σχεση με ΚΖ2- οταν εβλεπες τα διαφορα βιντεο που κυκλοφορησαν πριν βγει το παιχνιδι και γι αυτο αλλωστε πολλοι δεν ειχαν εντυπωσιαστει. ;)

Είχα δει πριν καιρό μέσω internet ένα βιντεάκι που έπαιζε μία pre-alpha έκδοση του παιχνιδιού κάποιος από το team της Guerilla (απο το GameSpot το είχα βρει και ήταν αρκετά μεγάλο σε διάρκεια) και ο τύπος έπαιζε με την dev έκδοση και κούναγε κάμερες από δω και από κει ,ξέρετε, GodMode και τα σχετικά και έκανε και μια Mini παρουσίαση του game από πλευράς gameplay, enviroment, UI κτλ. Anyway, αυτό που θέλω να πω είναι ότι στην ερώτηση ενός δημοσιογράφου, για το αν θα είναι έτσι σκοτεινό όλο το ύφος του παιχνιδιού, ο τύπος είπε κάτι στο στυλ "Φτιάχνουμε ένα πολεμικό παιχνίδι και θα είναι έτσι όπως πρέπει να νιώθει ο gamer αν βρίσκεται σε πολεμική ζώνη" και μετά έκανε σχόλια για την σκοτεινότητα των τοπίων και το κατά πόσο βοηθά η καινούργια μηχανή και οι ικανότητες που έχει για να παράγει ρεαλιστικό φωτισμό, από λάμπες που είχε γύρω γύρω, από τις τελείως random αστραπές που βαράνε στον (προς διάλυση/παρακμή) πλανήτη που διαδραματίζεται και κάτι άλλες πίπες που δεν θυμάμαι.
Δεν ξέρω για σας αλλά έτσι όπως εγώ τα ακούω αυτά, όλο το game θα έχει ένα σκοτεινό ύφος, όχι ότι με χαλάει βέβαια, απ'ότι έιδα στην εν λόγω pre-alpha παρουσίαση, το παιχνίδι φαίνεται πολύ ωραίο.
Θα προσπαθήσω να βρω το link για το βίντεο που αναφέρω για να το δείτε και σεις.

'Οχι, δεν κάνει το GameSpot την συνέντευξη, απλά κάνει host το συγκεκριμένο βίντεο το οποίο είναι από ένα συνέδριο του 2007 (δεν θυμάμαι ποιο, αναφέρεται κάπου στο βίντεο) όπως είχε κάνει και κάλυψη του τότε συνεδρίου. Μιλάει ένας τύπος της Guerrilla και κάνει παρουσίαση του παιχνιδιού. Μην αγχώνεσαι :P

Killzone 2 developer Guerrilla Games has stated with confidence that it believes the highly anticipated First Person Shooter has lived up to the expectations of eager fans since the game debuted in trailer form at E3 2005.

"The level of anticipation for the 2005 trailer meant that people expected the biggest thing ever to materialize, and what we’ve shown so far, at last year’s E3 and today means that we’re living up to the expectation," commented Steven Ter Heide, Killzone 2’s senior producer.

Graphically, Killzone 2 has surpassed anything delivered on a console yet, with lifelike animations, facial expressions, and spectacular lighting and smoke effects. This combined with gameplay mechanics such as the "lean and peek" system, Killzone 2 looks set to deliver more than just a rudimentary FPS experience.

The firm also acknowledges the comparisons observed between Infinity Ward’s highly successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and virtually every new FPS on the market, though remains confident the studio can step up a gear when Killzone 2 hits shelves in February 2009.

"I’m not going to sit here and talk about the competition," said Guerrilla Games' Hermen Hulst. Steven Ter Heide: When we originally showed the trailer back in 2005 I think everybody saw the level of quality we were going for in terms of the visuals, the quality of the animation, the intensity, and all of that. Right now, we’re trying to make good on that promise. The quality of the visuals today are getting very, very close to what we set out to achieve.
What’s the story behind the sequel? How does it tie in with the original?

The ISA is preemptively striking at their homeworld to take down their emperor, who’s their main aggressor, and by doing that they hope to put an end to their aggression. The Helghast have adapted to their world and there’s a lot more to deal with than they originally anticipated.
What characters will gamers play as and will there be multiple characters like in the original?
There’s a new main character called Sev, who’s a battle-hardened war veteran. We focus on Sev’s story. In the original Killzone, we had different characters that you could play. This game will focus on Sev’s journey through the invasion of Helghan.
What were your main focus points heading into this sequel?
There are a couple of key things that we found to be really important. Since this is a shooter and you’ll be shooting about 80 percent of the time, we wanted to make sure it felt good. We made sure that every little detail down to the weightiness of the weapon and the way it animates feels just right. Also, the fact that every bullet you fire has to have a suitable response–not only from the environment, where you expect destructibility, but also from the enemies. For a shooter, that’s the biggest thing to focus on, that the weapons feel right.

We wanted to improve the death animations over Killzone, which were rather sloppy. We’ve implemented a system called the hit response system that blends motion-captured animations with physics impulses. So whatever kind of weapon you’re using and the distance and angle you’re shooting from will trigger different kinds of animations. It really makes you feel like every bullet you fire in this world has an impact.
Did your team work on any other specific facets of the game to up the realism?
We want to have a sense of immersion and keep everything in first-person and keep things as cinematic as possible. There’s virtually no HUD and everything you do from buddy assist to lean and peek are in first-person. You feel as though you’re at the center of the action and everything that happens in the game is a result of your actions. All of the features and mechanics are built around that.
The cover system is new to the console version of this game. Where’d that come from?
The cover system we borrowed from Killzone Liberation, which we introduced on PSP. We call it duck and cover. The whole game was in third-person and now we’re doing a first-person perspective view with the same system.

How do other shooters like Halo 3 and Gears of War influence your team?
We’re big game players. We play every game that comes out, not just shooters but we’re also looking at Resident Evil and GTA. We also look at movies, comics and books to find out what works. There was a description in a history book about the First World War where they were describing the German rockets that were coming in. The soldiers called them “screaming meemies” because of the sound that they made. We thought that was a great idea and we implemented that type of sound into the game to have it stick to players.
Can you talk about the Hollywood influence on this shooter?
We built on what we embarked on with the original Killzone. It’s sci-fi but grounded in reality. We wanted to take that a couple of steps further on the PS3 with something we call Hollywood Realism. It feels real but it’s slightly over-the-top. All of the explosions are a little bit bigger and all of the animations are a little more exaggerated, but it’s very much grounded in reality. Even though it’s sci-fi and you’re on another planet, you still recognize things and understand how things work.
The original Killzone received a lot of pre-release hype, but didn’t become the Halo-killer many had hoped. What are you doing this time around to correct that?
Anything from the AI we’re doing, making sure they’re challenging, but feel real as well. That’s always a fine balance. We know we have to improve over what we did with the original Killzone and that’s something we’re working very hard on. Also, the SIXAXIS integration we’ve done keeps with the immersive feel. It allows us to be tactile. You can walk up to a valve, grab it with the shoulder buttons and then rotate the valve with the controller. We didn’t want it to feel like a gimmick or something that was tacked on. It works within the context of the game.
What’s something you’re really excited about with the game at this point in development?
If you look around at the different screens as people play there will be all types of animations going on. We call them happy accidents, when some of the mechanics will just gel and just create this wonderful memorable moment. For instance, with the death animations, if you shoot at an enemy soldier while he’s firing his weapon, he’ll fire that weapon up in the air and the bullets will actually fly out. It’s those kinds of things that I think people will enjoy.

πλάκα πλάκα το ps3 έχει μετά τις τελευταίες κυκλοφορίες μια ιδιαίτερα καλή βιβλιοθήκη με αρκετές επιλογές για όποιον θέλει να μπει στο χορό,καμμία σχέση με 6 μήνες πριν,με τις κυκλοφορίες που είναι προγραμματισμένες και μετά το καλοκαίρι...πολύ καλά!!το κακό βέβαια είναι ότι ήδη αρχίζουν να μαζεύονται ατερμάτιστα(...την εξεταστική μου...)

Do you remember E3 in 2005? No, not the one with giant enemy crabs, massive damage, and “Riiiiiiiiiiiidge Raceeeeeeeeer!” – that was E3 2006. E3 2005 was the event where Sony showed the now infamous Killzone 2 trailer.

Much debate raged at the time as to whether it was pre-rendered footage or rendered in real time (it was pre-rendered, for the record) and much debate also raged as to whether or not the PS3 would actually be capable of displaying such visual beauty. Because, let’s face it, in a pre-Gears of War world, the Xbox 360 wasn’t exactly setting the world alight graphically.

Afterwards, Killzone 2 seemed to drop off the radar completely. Trade show after trade show it was conspicuously absent and people started to talk. Would Killzone 2 look like ass? Would it be another Duke Nukem Forever? Never mind the gameplay; all people wanted to know about was whether it was coming and whether it would live up to the pre-rendered footage.

Finally, some footage and screenshots emerged, and it seemed like while Killzone 2 wouldn’t match the pre-rendered footage, it would at least come damn close. And, having now played the game myself, I can assure you that Killzone 2 looks amazing.

Although I was only playing a pre-alpha build (read: early days yet), I was still blown away by what I saw. Sure, some of the textures were a little bland and possibly even placeholders. Sure, there were some graphical glitches. Sure, there were a couple of invisible obstacles. However, this is a pre-alpha build, and to get the game looking this good at this stage is like writing Hamlet on your first draft.

Another great aspect of Killzone 2 is the scripted events. Now, I’m not often a fan of scripted events because I feel that they take away the narrative control that makes video games such a wonderful medium. However, in first-person shooters I feel they work really well. They help create feelings of war going on around you, and independent of you, which helps suck you in and immerse you into the experience. That’s escapism in action, and it’s fantastic.

Watching soilders fly past you in agony after an explosion is a site to behold, and coming up to certain events really gives the player a sense of urgency and dread that never really happens in games that follow the Bioshock Doom formula for gameplay. It’s all very ZOMG stuff that gives you the motivation to keep going and see more and more.

In terms of gameplay, Killzone 2 also offers some new tricks. The controls held up well in this early build, and one of the best new additions is the now standard cover system. Holding L1 will allow players to take cover, and simply releasing L1 will allow them to pop out again. Whereas toggle cover systems can cause confusion and involuntary actions, Killzone 2’s system assures players that they will only cover when and where they want to.

Another nice feature was the inclusion of some motion controls similar to those found in Metroid Prime 3. At the end of the demonstration level, I needed to turn a valve. Rather than simply press a button to turn the valve, I needed to hold buttons to grasp the valve with my character's hands, and then tilt the Sixaxis controller to turn the wheel. When I could turn no more, I simply released the buttons, tilted the controller back, and then started the process again. Although it certainly has the potential to be gimmicky if overused, it definitely added to the sense of immersion in Killzone 2.

Killzone 2 is shaping up very nicely and if everything is to the same standard as I saw in this early build, it will definitely be a game that should be in the collection of every fan of first-person shooters. Killzone 2 is schedule for release early next year exclusively for PLAYSTATION 3. Last week, EGM/1UP.com revealed that the August issue of EGM has a feature story on Killzone 2. Subscribers should have their copies as early as today and the magazine hits news stands later this week.
The magazine features 12 pages of Killzone 2 goodness, some of which mentions that four-and-a-half of the six cores of the PS3’s Cell chip are being used by Killzone 2 at the moment. Guerrilla Games’ Technical Directer, Michiel van der Leeuw also mentions, “Sony basically has an international forum for sharing character technology, animation tools and graphics shaders. ~ We’ve even taken a few tricks directly from the Resistance guys at Insomniac, and we’ve even been talking directly to the God of War guys in Santa Monica.”

It looks as if Guerrilla is making the best of being a part of the Sony Computer Entertainment family.
The magazine also gives a decent run down the the previous two Killzone games and also reveals Jan Templar’s(Killzone’s original hero) new role in the Killzone universe. Check out the latest issue of EGM for the full scoop!

Breaking Killzone 2 details on Cell usage and more

As the latest Electronic Gaming Montly hits subscribers, details on the upcoming PS3 exclusive Killzone 2 are leaking onto the net. A few facts include Guerrilla's use of the Cell processor as well as background updates on a few of the returning characters from the Killzone universe.

According to the 12 page preview in EGM, Killzone 2 will be utilizing a whopping four and a half of the six cores in the Cell processor. For technically a first generation title (it's Guerrilla's first PS3 game), that's quite remarkable.

Και εμένα με εντυπωσίασε το νέο trailer. Ειδικά εκεί που ο ήρωάς μας δίνει το χέρι του να ανέβει ένας στρατιώτης. Απίστευτα φωτορεαλιστικό.

Τώρα για must δεν ξέρω. Πρέπει να έχει και διασκεδαστικό gameplay.

Another big design shift pares the number of playable characters down from four to only one, fresh-faced protagonist Sev. Killzone 2 badge system unveiled, detailed

Brand new details have arisen regarding Killzone 2's online multiplayer, which, judging from these facts, looks to be quite deep.

A new badge system allow users to mix and match abilities into primary and secondary spots to complement their pay style. This keeps multiplayer fresh without having to adhere to a rigid class system. The primary badge defines the main role of the player character, as well as its outward appearance, while the secondary badge serves as a complementary ability that enhances the main role.

Here's the entire list of all Killzone 2 badges.

Rifleman:
The default multiplayer character is assigned when no primary badge is selected. A secondary badge may still be added. Riflemen can start with most weapons, except for the specialized ones.

Engineer:
Primary badge ability - Sets up an automated turret which targets the enemy
Secondary badge ability - Repairs ammunition dispensers, mounted guns, and automated turrets

Medic:
Primary badge ability - Revives downed team mates
Secondary badge ability - Throws a health pack, which can be picked up by other players

Scout:
Primary badge ability - Uses a cloaking suit to become near-invisible
Secondary badge ability - Tags all on-screen enemy players with a hidden marker, which broadcasts their coordinates to team mates

Assault:
Primary badge ability - Dons heavy armor twice as strong as normal
Secondary badge ability - Temporarily boosts running speed

Tactician:
Primary badge ability - Throws a coloured smoke grenade, which serves as a spawn point
Secondary badge ability - Requests air support from a sentry bot which targets the enemy

Saboteur:
Primary badge ability - Assumes the disguise of a randomly selected enemy player

To κομμάτι που δείξαν live ήταν εκπληκτικό... Ο φωτισμός είναι ότι καλύτερο υπάρχει αυτή τη στιγμή στον χώρο! Ελπίζω και σε gameplay να είναι το ίδιο υποσχόμενο... Λογικά το video θα βρεθεί σύντομα σε κάνα gametrailers...

οκ ..έλεγα ότι το killzone φαίνετε μια απο τα ίδια. Τώρα πλέον φαίνεται μια απο τα ίδια αλλά σε next gen επίπεδο. Πιστευώ ότι τα γραφικά είναι άψογα.

Exclusive KillZone 2 Hands On: Public Beta Confirmed!

In what is possibly the game of the E3 Expo this year, Sony have given G4tv an exclusive hands on preview of the game in where it was revealed, although momentarily, that more information about the game including Trophies will be revealed as the "Public Beta" nears.

Considering the reactions to this game's Multiplayer revelations, we can only expect the choreographer of Sony's mediocre Press Conference to be fired shortly within the next few hours. When I picked up the controller in Sony's Los Angeles Convention Center this afternoon, I
was a bit letdown to find out that I'd just be continuing the level I stopped in a few months
ago.

Little did I know my socks were about to be knocked off.

The muzzle of the gun began to glow orange as the gun neared its overheating threshold,
but I managed to clip a few well-placed red barrels in the rickety structure that set off a
chain reaction that brought the building down on top of the baddies. Although I expected the
barrels to cause and explosion, the building's demise was a welcome surprise as well as a
sight to behold and experience -- the controller rumbled as the neighboring tower went down
and slowly the gray fog of dust and concrete slowly rose into the air.


I moved the team forward, and eventually came into what would become the greatest
Killzone 2 battle I have ever played.

I got off two direct hits, and I honestly had to stop and stare at the scene on screen --
my troops were battling the enemies in the foreground, in the middle of the frame were
two tanks surrounded by black smoke and fiery red explosions, and in the background
gray smoke wafted as Helghast forces fired from elevated positions.

It was a thing of beauty, but our demo ended there.

I realize that I'm in the enviable position of getting to paid to play top-shelf games time
after time, but sometimes, no matter how good a game is, it can get stale. You get to a
point where you don't feel wowed anymore and just want to be done with it. That hasn't
happened here. Every time I play it, Killzone 2 finds a different way to ensure that I won't
shut up about it.

Παντως , πραγματικα τα γραφικα ειναι απιστευτα, και για πρωτη φορα οι εντυπωσεις απο το gameplay καλυτερες απο ποτε...

Kyle Shubel on Killzone 2 Trophies, public beta, online & more

According to Managing Producer Kyle Shubel, Guerilla Games is determined to support all PlayStation 3 features including full Trophy Support, SIXAXIS motion control, DualShock 3 vibration, online community support and more.

"We are going through that checklist, but that one, we did do them all (PS3 features such as Trophies), and two, they don't feel bolted on," said Shubel. "We want them to feel right."

Shubel continued stating that Killzone 2 will be supported with Trophy support but that details would be held off until around the time of the public beta. He also confirmed that Killzone 2 will feature a plethora of online support outside of simple online gameplay.

"We are doing a great deal with community... 32 player online, squad based, multiple classes," pronounced Shubel. "We're doing community integration to carry you from our Killzone.com website, follow your stats, tracking clans, issuing clan challenges, going straight from the website to the PS3."

He ended his comments stating that Sony and Guerilla Games have even more to announce on Killzone 2, and that they're planning to release little tidbits throughout the rest of E3. Stay tuned for more details soon.

"Fuck that shit," exclaimed Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's Stuart Tilley as I played through the single-player Killzone 2 demo at Sony's private E3 meeting room. The words came in response to my questioning of the shooter's potential inclusion of old-school corridor shooter mechanics like on-rails vehicular sections. "Killzone 2 is about grabbing a gun and kicking fucking ass," he continued. "Oh, and doing it with a game that's just beautiful to look at."

At its core, it's simply an extremely polished version of the same games we've been playing for so long. And while Killzone 2 certainly looks amazing in motion—Tilley made a point of saying that the game's developers in Geurilla had definitely silenced the naysayers of the original trailer—it's still, at its core, just another FPS.
The sole single-player level on display was taken from early-on in the game, an assault on the Helghast planet which goes terribly wrong. A cocky band of fellow soldiers is quickly discouraged by an incredibly powerful counter-offensive by the Helghast, leaving the hero and his remaining squadmates with an uphill battle, both figuratively and literally; the opening section of the level had me pushing forward a front of Helghast down a linear path, while intaking some sharp but heavily-scripted sequences. It's the same sequence we've seen in past trailers, and it's every bit as linear as the trailers suggested.
As the level progressed, things got a little more interesting. The controls proved to be a little loose during my playthrough—I didn't have a chance to change the sensitivity—but the game's leaning cover system, which allows you to peek over objects and fire while crouched behind virtually anything, worked incredibly well and helped me get through the early bits, as did the helpful buddy A.I. which had NPCs helping to boost me up and get me around to continue progressing. Better yet, a powerful tank helped me get through the rest, as I unleashed some carnage against a horde of Helghast through one of the game's open-ended vehicular sections.

Surprisingly, the one feature that caught my eye was the use of motion control. While many developers have shrugged off the SixAxis altogether, Killzone 2 actually made unique use of the feature. At one point, we came upon a steel wheel which I had to turn to open. By grabbing the L1 and R1 buttons and then twisting the SixAxis hard, I moved it a bit. Quickly doing this, releasing, resetting my hands, and repeating allowed me to open the door. It felt surprisingly good, and Tilley said that this kind of Metroid Prime-like motion control would be all over the game but would never interfere with the core shooting.
The single player experience of Killzone 2 is crucial to the overall experience: it's what drove so many people away from the original. With a much tighter engine, a more focused narrative, replayability-oriented goals like blasting propoganda-spewing radios hidden around the map, and a more challenging campaign, the single player side of Killzone 2 has great potential, but it needs to do something, anything, to break out of its somewhat generic, albeit disgustingly beautiful, tendencies. As for the mutliplayer side, we'll have more on that in the coming days.

Ναι,φαίνεται ότι θα ξεχωρίσει από τον σωρό των fps ,τουλάχιστον σε γραφικά και σε ένταση.Δεν πιστεύω να βγει φούσκα όπως το haze...

κοίτα τα franchise που βγαίνουν και είναι αρκετά confident για την διάρκεια τους ανακοινώνουν απο πριν πόσο περίπου χρόνο θα πρέπει να διαθέσει κάποιος για να τα τερματίσει. Όπως έκανε και το fallout 3 και το GTA4 ...O κόσμος πρέπει να ξέρει γιατί κακά τα ψέματα καλά τα exclusives της Sony αλλά μικρά σε διάρκεια.

Along with this news, Guerilla Games' also confirmed that they will closely monitoring for exploits and vulnerabilities for the Online, which is great news for those who hate having to play agaisnt cheaters.

κοίτα τα franchise που βγαίνουν και είναι αρκετά confident για την διάρκεια τους ανακοινώνουν απο πριν πόσο περίπου χρόνο θα πρέπει να διαθέσει κάποιος για να τα τερματίσει. Όπως έκανε και το fallout 3 και το GTA4 ...O κόσμος πρέπει να ξέρει γιατί κακά τα ψέματα καλά τα exclusives της Sony αλλά μικρά σε διάρκεια.
Ας είναι μικρό (μακάρι να μην είναι) αλλά να έχει καλό on-line.
Και 50 ώρες (λέμε τώρα) διάρκεια να έχει κάποια στιγμή θα το τερματίσεις και αν δεν έχει καλό on-line θα το παρατήσεις.
Πάρε παράδειγμα το COD4 ήταν μικρό αλλά ακόμα παίζουμε μετά από τόσους μήνες.;)

Ε αφού μας παρακαλάς......αλλιώς σιγά μην το βλέπαμε.
Ελπίζω μετά από αυτό το παιχνίδι να σταματήσουν να βγάζουν όλοι τα fps με το κιλό εκτός αν είναι ισάξια ή καλύτερα (λέμε τώρα) από αυτό.
Πάντως αυτό που παρατήρησα στα βιντεάκια είναι ότι δεν υπάρχει χάρτης την ώρα που παίζεις.........θέλω να πιστεύω με κάποιο κουμπί να τον βγάζεις.

Ε αφού μας παρακαλάς......αλλιώς σιγά μην το βλέπαμε.

Aν είναι έτσι εντάξει αλλιώς καλά θα ήταν σαν επιλογή αν θες να κάνεις display τον χάρτη έστω για λίγο.

^^ λογικοτατο και απορω πςω στο καλο καποιοι καθονται και αναρωτιουνται...ειναι πραγματικα χαζο εντελως να καθονται και να ανυσηχουν για το Α.Ι.

Οταν εισαι σε μια εκθεση και περιμενεις στην ουρα 2 ωρες για να παιξεις δεκα λεπτα και να δεις ενα παιχνιδι , ε ο σκοπος ειναι να παιξεις και να δεις το παιχνιδι....οχι να καθησεις και να τις τρως και να μην μπορεις να κανεις ενα βημα.Ασε που οταν σου λενε παιξε 10 λεπτα , εσυ δεν εχεις χρονο να κατσεις με την ησυχια σου να δοκιμασεις τον χειρισμο κλπ κλπ.

Και για το Uncharted το ίδιο αν δε κάνω λάθος είχες πει και τελικά το να βγάλεις το παιχνίδι από το hard και μετά είναι απλά σπάσιμο νεύρων. Αυτά για τους εχθρους... Τώρα για το που πρέπει να βαδίσει το FPS shooter ναι έχεις δίκιο... Πρέπει να μπουν στοιχεία RPG και στοιχεία από action games για να έχουν περισσότερο ενδιαφέρον τα παιχνίδια αυτά.

Το Killzone 2 πάντως θα έχει άλλα στοιχεία που θα το ξεχωρίζουν από το σωρό. Ένα από αυτά είναι η ποιότητα του όσον αφορά την κινηματογραφικότητα του... Είναι από τα λίγα(ή το μόνο??) παιχνίδια που πλησιάζουν (ίσως και ξεπερνούν ορισμένες φορές??) την CG εκδοχή τους!!

Αυτο που λες , ειναι πρακτικα αδυνατον να γινει ...μιλας στην ουσια για full destructibility physics.Αυτα τα πραγματα δεν ειναι εφικτα στην παρουσα φαση φιλε μου.Οχι με τετοια ποιοτητα γραφικων τουλαχιστων.

Ναι εαν εριχνες κατα πολυ τον αριθμο πολυγωνων , ναι αν εκανες τα textures ψιλοχαλια , μικραινες τον κοσμο και γενικα εριχνες πολυ την απιστευτη λεπτομερεια , ισως θα μπορουσες να εφαρμοσεις κατι τετοιο.Αλλα γενικα το παιχνιδι θα εδειχνε αθλιο.

Δεν υπαρχει νομιζω παιχνιδι σημερα που να διαθετει full destructibility physics.Και μην μου πειτε το frontlines fuel of war , με τον ιδιο τροπο καταστρεφονται ολα.Δεν παιζει ρολο αυτο που αναφερεις δηλαδη.

Παντως , συγνωμη κιολας, εγω δεν εχω δει πιο ρεαλιστικη καταρρευση κτιριου απο αυτην που ειδαμε στο KZ2 demo.Σορρυ αλλα ειναι ΑΚΡΩΣ ρεαλιστικη , εστω και scripted.

Αλλωστε οταν παιζεις το παιχνιδι μια φορα θα το κανεις , μια φορα θα το δεις μεχρι να το τερματησεις.Δηλαδη η εμπειρια ολου του πρωτου playthrough ειναι που μετραει Mostly , και πραγματικα δειχνει απιστευτα μοναδικη μεχρι στιγμης.

Killzone 2 is capable of making anyone athirst for it’s raw gameplay power and brilliance. Set after the events of the first iteration, Killzone 2 follows the story of an ISA Alpha squad leader named Sev through the lurid soils of the battlefield. This time, the war is taken to the planets that the Helghast take as shelter and call home, bringing about a deluge of vengeful retribution and convivial glory to camaraderie in unity. Killzone 2 plays seamlessly in our preview, and does a great job at it.

Killzone 2 brings the key factors from aspects of graphics, storyline, and immerses the player to that depth. The convoy lands in midday for this level as the air is filled with the brimming sounds of the injured and dying. The situation is looking dire and you’re backup. You jump out, the gun is loaded and it’s time to take the fight to another level. Cannon blasts are dampening the lands in the distance and everything here is dynamic. Standing for a whole 10 minutes is difficult when talking about Killzone 2, but anyone who does that will see the defining characteristic of a non-scripted fire action in the scenery. No cannon lands the same place the same time, and the views of the hovering crafts of ISA above is a sight to see.
While the main bravado of Killzone 2 lies within the nonchalance of the graphical expectation, there is an overlooked aspect of sheer A.I. power that made our play time with Killzone 2 a really special one. The enemies aren’t scripted in combat (exceptions to some moments), everything happens differently the next time around. Different strategems and everything takes place in a battlefield just as it does in the contraposition to the relevance of graphical limits. As you scale the lands, a Helghast may pop up and think it has the upper hand until you lodge a bullet into his right leg. He reproachingly grabs it, and lets out a little muffle of pain. Keep shooting, and the blood pours. Blood in this game goes far beyond a set limit. The level of pain something incurs as a result of your combat is not just limited to foes. We won’t ruin the surprise here, but leave you with an opportunity: try and shoot your teammates. See what happens.

The objectives as the game progresses is generally laid out with the traditional A to B standpoint and checkpoint. In order to tell the story and lead the player in a certain direction, the gameplay has to also follow for a clear cut direction. Progressively, the missions and objectives become more testing and requires skillful dodging of rocket launchers to the head and many other intricacies we won’t reveal here.
The audio in Killzone 2 is purely phenomenal. Thanks to our vast knowledge of hardware reviews regarding sound, we can tell easily when a 48KHz sound is transfigured to sound like something else, and when sneaky tactics are being used to replay the sound in a different pitch for a different scale in the environment. Killzone 2 rest assured puts the sounds at equal expectations to that of the rest of the game itself. Every gun has a unique sound, and even under different situations the sound changes. The overall volume of sounds form a plethora of increased value and makes Killzone 2 an attractive audible piece.
With tremendous graphical achievements, detailed storyline, depth of A.I., and an array of sounds, Killzone 2 plays tremendously for a first person shooter and thinks creatively. Overall interactivity through the operational objective based storyline flows in to the macrocosm of the world that you’re hurled into. It’s not just about shooting bad guys, but it’s about getting a feel for war, for the sheer rush and blithe frustration that crucial situations bring. Above all, it’s about the guy next to you. The soldier who gives his life for the team.

If there's one thing that there was a ton of at this year's E3, it was shooters. While most of them—specifically Gears of War 2, Resistance 2, SOCOM, and even the single-player of Killzone 2 (http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2008/07/16/killzone-2-presently-polished-pretty-predictable)—felt improved but familiar (and in a sense less exciting), the multiplayer of Killzone 2 was incredibly surprising. Though it wasn't playable on the floor, I had a chance to sit in with Sony and Guerrilla in a closed-door preview of the multiplayer side of the game and what I saw impressed me.

With eight maps and a handful of modes scheduled for launch, performance-related ranks and unlockable goods, the ability to manually select weapon load-outs for characters, and an online web community that lets players check stats and send messages, Killzone 2 multiplayer sounded awfully generic as the presentation began.


Admittedly, one new feature sounded cool. In Killzone 2, online games don't "end" as you might expect. Multiple matches can take place within the span of a single game without any reloading or break in the flow of action. Once you complete a specific match objective that would normally win the game—say killing the other team—the objective rolls over into a new one and the winning team is awarded a match point. It's completely organic. This lets players pick any number of matches for a single game before moving to the next map.

Despite the few little differences announced early in the presentation, there was a certain feeling in the room that was somewhat "been there, done that" about the whole thing. Once the devs started talking about the game's class system, though, that changed. Surprisingly, Killzone 2 has managed to innovate in a way that I think is genuinely unique: the game meshes the awesome archetypal job class structure of Team Fortress 2 with the ability to equip a sub-job like in Final Fantasy XI.

Basically, you select a primary job—drawn from your basic sniper, scout, engineer, medic, heavy, demoman, and solider-style Team Fortress 2 classes—and your secondary job from the same pool. Each job has a primary and secondary ability called badges that are combined when you mix them into a hybrid class. So, for example, a player who plays a pure "Medic" has access to a primary badge which revives dead players and a secondary badge which throws med-packs. The same players switches to a primary of "Assault" and a secondary of Medic to create the "Assault Medic," which has double armor and the ability to throw med-kits. This lends itself to a ton of permutations, including my personal favorite, the robot-master "Engineer Tactician," which can create an automated turret with its primary and call in an air support sentry bot with its secondary.


Also unique to Killzone 2 multiplayer is the way it handles squads in parties. While players can run around and gun at their leisure online like any normal shooter, players can group themselves into active squads on the fly to create mini in-game cohesive units that have a dedicated chat channel and improved team functions to get small objectives done. This helps organize some of the chaos on bigger maps—especially in the objective-based multiplayer.

The clan system also proved to be incredibly interesting. The main stand-out feature is clan valor. This clan currency is used instead of win rankings. Each clan starts with 1,000 valor and can use it to place bets during clan matches; the more valor you have, the better your clan is. Tournaments can have a small entry fee and a huge reward, and if a clan reaches 0 valor, lesser tournaments are the only way to win back valor. Better still, the clan features of the website allow players to create clan challenges with valor online at any time.

I walked into my Killzone 2 meeting skeptical but walked out impressed. If Guerrilla can pull all of this off with the same, uncompromising graphics engine from the single-player experience—something the company made explicitly clear that it was doing—then the PlayStation 3 may just have its be-all, end-all multiplayer shooter for 2009. Killzone 2 is an "incredible adrenaline rush"

Speaking to the BBC, Guerilla’s Hermen Hulst has shown Killzone 2 in its final stages of development and said the shooter’s simply all about the action.

“Killzone 2, to me, is essentially an incredible adrenaline rush,” he said, speaking at E3 last week. “It’s a very dense, intense,action-packed first-person shooter game.”

He added: “I think taking this game, this franchise to PlayStation 3 allows us to create the game we’ve always wanted. When I talk about ‘action-packed,’ I mean creating a full theatre of war.”

μετά από αυτό δεν νομίζω ότι χρειάζεται να δω κάτι άλλο. Το κορυφαίο FPS μακράν και σίγουρη αγορά. Αλλωστε δεν είναι τυχαίο ότι η Guerrilla εδρεύει στο Αμστερνταμ. Τα παιδιά εκεί έχουν πολλές πηγές έμπνευσης. Στο βίντεο του Valkyre στο 492 post αναφέρεται ότι δανείστηκαν ήχους απο το τράμ και αφού τους επεξεργάστηκαν τους χρησιμοποίησαν σαν ηχητικά εφέ των τανκς και των αεροσκαφών. Ε όπως και να το κάνουμε κάτι πρέπει να πιεις για να σου έρθει τέτοια έμπνευση:bgrin2:
